Another day where birds sing and dogs bark, the dogs are behind their own fences, so I have no idea what kind they are. We do see a lot of birds in the backyard, bees of several kinds and bugs of all kinds. A menagerie to watch and listen to. Its all ok, health is fine. Last week felt sad. I guess its been a long slog! This week seems better.
This is the Maud trousers pants & shorts I tested for. Each has a self drafted top. I plan to use the outfit on the right as summer pj’s.
I’m still getting used to oven temps in Celsius and 24 hour clocks. I’m almost there. I do keep a cheat sheet for the oven temps inside a cabinet door, because I don’t want to burn anything. And our oven has an always on fan, which means that things cook faster but more unevenly, so you have to twist things around halfway through the cooking. Luckily we have watched British bakeoff for years, and we were used to the “fan” and twist halfway through. I’ve been making bread, not sourdough, though. Gingerbread snaps, Choux buns, leek & potato dishes, homemade waffles. I’m hoping to try a steak and ale pie later on this week. I try to mix it all up with the gardening and sewing so I can enjoy “fresh” ideas/projects.
Feel free to reply back(but not reply all) with thoughts and questions. I feel like this blog just gets the conversation going! It helps me get my verbal “wiggles” out to talk to people. I talked to a stranger for 10 minutes last week, who I assumed was a neighbor, but turns out she lives about 5 miles away. I pretty much talk to everyone.
So last week the big whoop was that garden centers opened. So I went to get a hose. Took me 2 trips, but I got all the needed pieces. It's all different, folks. They sell hoses here with nothing on the ends. So you need a connection piece to attach to the spigot, and a piece to attach to the sprayer. So figure. It was a very nice easy 2 mile drive each of the ….4…ways. What else what I to do? Of course I also bought a few plants! Now I need to get a little mulch to keep some moisture around the plants. You will think this is the end of the story, but no. So John came home and tried out the hose. The water was very underwhelming. He came in the house and fiddled with knobs under the sink, then back outside, tried it again…still just a triple of water. Then he remembered that he had been getting texts from East Anglian Water that our water pressure was affected because of a break somewhere in our town. It was fixed by the middle of the night, so the next day the water pressure was perfect. So….we’ve had an electrical problem, now a water problem!
I’ve had lots of walks and lots of natural beauty. Enjoy it will me, and remember that one day live will be “normal" again.
Love you all!
I see our dear Woodstock, GA church met in the parking lot. Miss you all, glad you could all gather again!
