Hi all, with special welcome to Brenda, Laura and Kimberly! Feel free to forward to anyone you trust…and write back when you can!
So I have just found an over 60, half hour dance class! It meets twice a week. The teacher looks just like a Brit version of my niece Kayleigh. How about that? The ladies invited me to join them for coffee afterwards, as this building which houses many events and meetings has a coffee shop in it. How nice was that? Its called Fletton House and is about a half mile from my house.
I’m also going, for the first time to the hour long U3A dance class on Thursday. This class is held at Victoria Hall in Town. I will report back about it next week.
John had a bad cold last week, so I tried to make him comfy while not catching it. I mostly succeeded- but have a scratchy throat. I’m trying out a natural antibiotic/immune booster called Olive Leaf. We’ll see.
I did get to garden 1 afternoon last week, cutting back a few things- mainly ivy and dried garden grasses. I also collected leaves that were blowing around the front and back yards. It was nice to be outside while it wasn’t very cold. Some cold though, high 40’s I guess. While gardening in the front yard my either side neighbors came by to say hello and several neighbors honked and waved from their cars. How nice to feel some kind of connection with neighbors.
Last weekend we had a terrible (from Brit point of view) wind storm. Like a derecho I guess. The Met weather office thoroughly frightened everyone. We did have very strong wind gusts for about 2 days, and some places like Yorkshire and Scotland also had massive rain and flooding. I gather this type of wind storm comes across the Atlantic comes about twice a year. How interesting to learn about new weather patterns! I’m sorry for all the grief the rising water has caused. We only got a few normal rain showers.
I was invited to a going away soiree for a girl heading back to the USA this spring. This is the Expat group I was invited to through a friend. The theme was southern food, and I made chicken salad with grapes and walnuts in it. The food was good, party games…not so much, but I participated in charades. It was a long game, and really not my thing, but evidently it was something they always play. I really enjoyed helping with the honoree’s toddler who was all over the place in a non- baby-proofed home. It was a sweet time with him. But in the end, it just doesn't seem like quite the group for me.
In other news, John and I travel to the Norfolk coast for the weekend. We hope to see seals, a light house, windy and cold beaches, a castle ruin of 2, a manor house and some pubs. Stay tuned!
