“Hiya” is a very popular greeting when you pass someone also out walking. Of course there are some people who just stare and don’t say anything, but most will return the greeting. Sometimes from older gentlemen I get a “your-all-right” said as 2 syllables. Because everyone prides themselves in having a stiff upper lip, the answer is “fine” sometimes with the addition of “weathers glorious” or some such reply. This town seems full of people out walking their dogs, walking to town, walking to the park, shops, or just walking. I don’t know very many people, but I sure do see a whole lot of folks!
This was our treat yesterday, visiting a friend in town with 2 bunnies. Soft and friendly, I was in love!
I didn’t get over to see the lambs last week, as it rained on and off all week. I hope to this week. That’s the plan!
We’re doing a meal for friends who had a new baby, and the Doctor has ordered a whole bunch of more bloodwork that I need to go get done. Addisons disease was confirmed here, (as in the states) so now they will check some other stuff. Ah life. Live it while you’ve got it! Be as healthy as you can!
I’ve got another new word for you all today. Devolved. As in The United Kingdom is a place with the devolved governments of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Regular Ireland is not in the UK anymore. Wikipedia says “In the United Kingdom, devolution is the statutory granting of powers from the Parliament of the United Kingdom to the Scottish Parliament, Welsh Parliament, the Northern Ireland Assembly and the London Assembly ….”
It's talked about all the time, because with the covid crisis, the whole group of parliaments try to move together when they agree, or feel its right. Like The lockdown in Virginia is different from Northern Virginia etc. So England opened their pubs on July 4th, but Scotland maybe a week later. Generally the same steps, but in their own timing.
On that note, how about some more pictures?
You probably see my picture of my boots and the lake at Barnwell County Park. We are hoping to be able to do an anniversary getaway to Hadrian’s Wall/Vindolanda area and Bamburgh Castle area. So we each have bought walking boots and are trying to get them "worn in” before we go. No date as yet…in the next month or so.
I’m also starting a pattern test of a “slip dress”, also called a sheath dress. Should be a fun project, but not something I will probably wear much in real life. HAHA, these days of semi-lockdown I like to wear more comfy clothes. But I must say that I have always gotten dressed during lockdown. Somehow not getting dressed is like not brushing teeth. If I’m not sick, I prefer to get dressed. But how about you? Have you had pj days in lockdown??
We got together with another American couple for dinner on the 4th, outside on their picnic table. I brought fruit salad and brownies & some beer. They made ribs, brats, corn and cucumber salad. Yum. Their garden is wonderful and I enjoyed a happy wander through it. Their cat kept us amused as well. Life is good! No fireworks at the base. Not a thing this year. Not sure if we would have gone anyway. Maybe I can catch a tube video of some.
Much love to you all. Life is good, 8 months here. We are getting comfortable. My driving practice had slipped a lot during lockdown, but I’m out there, carefully going places like the grocery, garden center, lamb farm, various doctor offices. I sure don’t feel English, but I’m kind of getting a clue of what things are normal, and what is expected of us from neighbors etc. I would say that makes me feel more comfortable in our surroundings. That’s nice!
Stay safe my lovely’s!
