Before we moved to England, I was asked to write “newsy letters “ home to family. You know I’m not a writer and sometimes misspell things on my grocery list. My compromise is a weekly “newsy email “.
Then more people asked to be put on my mailing list. Then they wanted to read the ones they missed. So, John suggested to put the back emails and new ones into a blog so new readers could catch up. And here we are. No ads, no spam.
I may also include occasional posts including sewing, recipes, or spiritual life ... but mainly it’s just my life, as I see it, with added salt. Cha cha cha, olé! 💃🏼
I know many places stateside are having a heatwave. Whew, I feel for you! Hoping for no brown outs, thunderstorms that cut electricity and the like for you all.
We are having a run of really gorgeous weather, 68-70 as highs. When there is no AC, this is great weather indeed!
I visited the lambs last week, and it was a sweet peaceful time. I bring my wellies and keep my beach chair in the back of the car, so I’m always ready. The mama sheep had been sheared, so they looked different, and I’m sure left so much better! They came to me when I made it over the fence. It made me feel special! Perhaps later this week they are going to move this group of sheep and lambs in with the rest of the flock…and they need help kind of herding the sheep to the other folk. Of course I vollunteered! I’ll tell you all about it next week! This fold has about 15 sheep in it, to merge with the much larger group.
Hello everyone….the answer no one has is: is the pandemic over? Things are starting to open here, amid restrictions, masks and reservations for almost everything. Do you notice that the news focuses on number of confirmed cases rather than deaths. So that means that people are still getting tested, but less people are dying…generally. I think that is some good news. Mixed though it is.
“Hiya” is a very popular greeting when you pass someone also out walking. Of course there are some people who just stare and don’t say anything, but most will return the greeting. Sometimes from older gentlemen I get a “your-all-right” said as 2 syllables. Because everyone prides themselves in having a stiff upper lip, the answer is “fine” sometimes with the addition of “weathers glorious” or some such reply. This town seems full of people out walking their dogs, walking to town, walking to the park, shops, or just walking. I don’t know very many people, but I sure do see a whole lot of folks!
We survived last weeks’ heatwave! Whew! Without air-conditioning. So how many of you grew up without AC? As we moved around the globe, I don’t really remember the lack of AC… I know people still talk about the slower pace of life before AC, just so hot you had to slow down for a few hours. Wow how life has changed us as we are so used to conditioned air we can’t do without it in homes and cars in the States. . Anyway, we had 4 hot days and then it cooled off.
The sun is shining here and we are going to have a “heatwave” this week! In the 80’s. Seems pretty nice except that we have no AC. But we will drink our tea iced and have our stiff upper lips at the ready. Whew.
This week I’ll venture out to the garden center to get a little hose piece. I ordered a hose winder from Amazon, but there was another piece needed, so off I’ll go. I will enjoy the trip, learn the names of a few more plants…and maybe find a little something to bring home. :)
