We survived last weeks’ heatwave! Whew! Without air-conditioning. So how many of you grew up without AC? As we moved around the globe, I don’t really remember the lack of AC… I know people still talk about the slower pace of life before AC, just so hot you had to slow down for a few hours. Wow how life has changed us as we are so used to conditioned air we can’t do without it in homes and cars in the States. . Anyway, we had 4 hot days and then it cooled off.
I visited the sheep and lambs twice last week. What a mood boost to spend time sitting in the shade watching the animals gambol and rest! Truly a treat! The young ones have come within an inch or 2 of my outstretched fingers to give me a sniff. The sheep want to talk and be scratched through their very thick wool. The problems of the world seem far away as I drive through country lanes and sit in fields to see the animals. It feels peaceful.
I’ve also done a bunch of walking over the last week, typically to town to get something to go with dinner, or mail something at the post office, or just a loop around town to enjoy the weather. The hollyhocks are blooming here along with the lavender. I took some pictures while out and around last week, and a picture of a covid walking to town outfit and a new dress I’ve been working on. The covid outfit is also homesewn. The skirt is actually a skort the the cotton top has buttons down the back. If only I had an event to wear the dress to! The last picture is of my hanging flower basket and roses in my yard. Don’t they look great?
Well, you see my life in pictures! This is it, mostly! John got me a map puzzle of our English county, North Hamptonshire, so I think I’ll work on that while the laundry blows dry in the wind. Then I’ll make more granola and roast some cashews, then make some chili with vegetables for dinner.
Hope you are keeping yourselves fit and well during these strange times. I do miss my walking twin from South Riding, and my line dancing buddies. I mainly walk by myself these days, but occasionally with a friend. John walks with me regularly too, and that is very special to me. He could be running, but instead he walks with me, and finds me wildlife to view up close. What a great guy!
I see some lockdowns are loosening in some places, and with it come times to be with friends. Please enjoy those times, those relationships. Life is precious!
